A massive thank you to my fellow Artists @georgefrederickthomas @nickbashall.artist @cristina_vercesi @louisecgalizia_art for doing such an outstanding job, the fabulous @thelilacaroundtheworld for modelling in our daytime classes @tom_koritsas and all his crew for their impeccable production and for providing some of the most virtuoso DJ’s at the festival @thesecretgardenparty for having back again this year and being such wonderful hosts, and of course all of the revellers who came and enjoyed our tent, WE LOVE YOU!

Another throwback. This time a portrait of my frie

Another throwback. This time a portrait of my friend @dominicsedgwickmusic from 2008. Painted over several sessions, this was one of my “breakthrough” portraits i.e. better than anything I’d done before. From the look of this, it was done on shop bought cotton canvas, when I was still using student grade paint.

Absolutely delighted that my painting, Self Portra

Absolutely delighted that my painting, Self Portrait at Low Tide has been selected for the Herbert Smith Freehills Portrait Award 2024 at @nationalportraitgallery (formerly the BP portrait award). I have entered this competition every year since 2008 and this is the 3rd time I’ve made through to the 2nd round of judging. I’ve always wanted to be in this show and I’m very glad to have finally been accepted. Thank you so much to the judges and congratulations to all the other artists who have been selected!

The show will run from 11th July until 27th October 2024, before going on tour.

How often do you get to see the subject next to the painting? It was amazing to see how Sargent simplified the clothes. Jonathan Jones from the @guardian gave this show just 1 star because it was about fashion, so it wasn't deep and meaningful enough. Pretentious Art critics who don’t paint can do one!
