Another throwback. This time a portrait of my frie

Another throwback. This time a portrait of my friend @dominicsedgwickmusic from 2008. Painted over several sessions, this was one of my “breakthrough” portraits i.e. better than anything I’d done before. From the look of this, it was done on shop bought cotton canvas, when I was still using student grade paint.

Absolutely delighted that my painting, Self Portra

Absolutely delighted that my painting, Self Portrait at Low Tide has been selected for the Herbert Smith Freehills Portrait Award 2024 at @nationalportraitgallery (formerly the BP portrait award). I have entered this competition every year since 2008 and this is the 3rd time I’ve made through to the 2nd round of judging. I’ve always wanted to be in this show and I’m very glad to have finally been accepted. Thank you so much to the judges and congratulations to all the other artists who have been selected!

The show will run from 11th July until 27th October 2024, before going on tour.
